PABA Annual Association Meeting - October 21, 2021
PURCHASE AREA BAPTIST ASSOCIATION
14th Annual Meeting/AMS Report
October 21, 2021
At 14 years old, we as churches of the PABA are the youngest association in the Kentucky Baptist Association. The association began in 2007 and has grown to 16 churches across three counties, Graves, Marshall, and Calloway. We continue to liftup our theme, “Churches helping churches.”
We were blessed by our Worship in Song Time provided by pastor Chris Clark/Ky Lake Cowboy Church. We really enjoyed his new rendition of “Happy Trails To You.” Pastor Dr. Jim Ewing challenged us to be faithful in our commitments and service to our Lord. We must always remember that “Without faith, it’s impossible to please God.” [Heb. 11:6]
Dr. Ewing also gave us an update on our budget giving for the last quarter. After paying our ministry requirements, we have $7,902.31 in the bank. We continue to support the ministry of RAMAR/ Orphanage in San Maguel, El Salvador. Pastor Masso showed a power point of photos of the children down there. They do not get any support except from our giving and selling plastic bags and hand sanitizer on the streets.
Lisa Holland, Executive Director for H.O.P.E. Clinic in Benton, Ky, gave an informative talk on how the clinic encourages, councils, and shares Jesus with girls and women who are seeking help in a crisis in their lives with a pregnancy! They provide an ultrasound to the women so they can see the baby as God’s creation and gift to them so they can choose life for the unborn child. I toured the facility recently and saw firsthand the 3D ultrasound of a baby. It was truly an awesome experience. Some of our churches support H.O.P.E. clinic. If you would like more information, contact the clinic at 859-935-1613 in Benton or 270-681-5791 in Eddyville.
Pastor Dr. Charles Frazier/ Zion’s Cause Baptist Church gave an update on what is happening in the Southern Baptist Convention. He is a member of the SBC Executive Committee, so he is in a great position to provide input, wisdom, and help for our convention to be what God has ordained it to be!
There were testimonies of how God has been working in their churches in a supernatural way by pastors Jaime Masso/First Hispanic Baptist Church and Barry Hungerford/Aurora Baptist Church. A few churches were recognized for their support of the “Gospel to Every Home” process of evangelizing their communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ this year.
We will again host a Thanksgiving meal for the International Students at the BCM [Baptist Campus Ministry], Murray State University, on November 19th at 6:00 pm. Our churches have been tasked again to provide food and fellowship for the time together.
We have a new member in our PABA Leadership Team. Pastor Clint Gentry/Elm Grove Baptist Church has come on board as our new Evangelism Team Leader for our association.
Brother James Keeling was an integral part of the formation of PABA. He recently retired from East Marshall Baptist Church. Dr. Frazier presented him with a plaque in recognition of his service in starting and support of the PABA through the past 14 years.
Pastor Merrick Nunn/Westside Baptist Church closed our meeting in prayer. We will assemble again at the upcoming PABA Executive Board meeting, January, 20th2022, at Westside Baptist Church in Murray. A meal will be served at 6:00 pm, and 7:00 pm meeting.
